THE IDEAL KANDUI RESORT QUIVER
The Mentawais are different than your local beachie, and having the right quiver is key to the success of your trip. We’ve seen countless Kandui Resort trips not go as planned because of the wrong surfboards. Make sure you are bringing the right boards.
Mentawai waves are some for most perfect waves on earth and catching waves here is substantially easier than most locations. Long, larger boards (similar to what you ride in Hawaii) are typically unnecessary here and we’ve broken out our suggested quiver into 3 different types of surfboards. The majority of waves you surf during a Kandui Resort trip are typically between shoulder high to overhead and your trusted short board will probably do just fine. When you get a little swell in the water though, you are going to want to have a standard shortboard with you, then when you score a bigger swell you will be needing a step up.
